"The funeral was yesterday and they were still in the same cheap hotel. The room was barren and sparse like any other hotel Zoomer had been to. It smelled like smoke, dark and hazy, a cloying presence in the air."

Zoomer spends a lazy morning in bed with his "lover." Their conversation is pleasant enough, or rather, unpleasant enough. Then again, Evil's brother is dead.

Read this after reading Like Shattered Glass; the relationship in this one feels a little more reciprocal, even if it's not particularly cheerful. There's some nice camera work in this one too (and I really like the art, it's very soft), but I think the writing and character relationships really shine here. You were able to tell a lot with a short wordcount! It feels very bittersweet, and the music helps!

It's very atmospheric and moody!

Thank you! I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the writing and character relationships, Evil is at least more successful here than he was in Like Shattered Glass. Presumably, he must've gotten to Zoomer in some way... well, he got him into a hotel, at least. Totally atmospheric and moody!

Just finished playing this and "Like Shattered Glass" and I have to say I am shocked at how absorbed I am in this story and the characters you've created. This isn't usually my cup of tea but I enjoyed this very much. Thanks for the wonderful game!!!

Thank you for the wonderful comment! I’m really happy to hear that you enjoyed the game—it gives me motivation to keep creating!

I love it! What a great, messed up relationship. Good characters, thanks for sharing!

Thank you! It's quite a bizarre relationship, isn't it? :)

Damn, you're really teasing us with that blanket placement. (I kid. But the art looks great. Especially the desaturated colors.) It's an interesting conversation and it feels complex.

This might just be me, but with the third-person narration, I wasn't sure which character I was looking at. (Obviously that won't be a problem for people who played your other game.)

This reply is super late and I hope you don’t mind, but the first line of your comment has stuck with me ever since! 😂 Glad to hear your thoughts and that you liked the art. Noted about the narration, I’ll keep it in mind if I make a game in this format again :)

Thank you for playing!

Oh, this was such a twisted story! I appreciated it! The relationship between Zoomer and Evil is well established and I enjoyed the depiction: they are both trainwrecks, certainly recognising the other at such, but somehow... they understand each other because of how terrible people they are (admittedly, I suppose Evil is extra... Evil, but Zoomer has a past of bad deeds behind him, and that's not mentioning the fact he's cheating on his wife with a guy way younger than him)?? Evil's trying to find his identity in being horrible, becoming a Cain, to quote the game's metaphor, is interesting too!

The art was also gorgeous, and I appreciate in particular the tints used in the shadows! It's making a great contrast with the lighting situation! Congrats on the entry!

Thank you for the comment! I wasn’t able to reply until now (life has been busy :”), but I’m grateful for your words. You touched on many things I wanted to show about Evil and Zoomer, like “twisted” being a good way to describe them. Their relationship is interesting, although sometimes I wonder who has the worse taste in the other…

Glad you liked the art too!
